The song was released on 20 July, 2010 and reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S.. Just The Way You Are went from room 7 to 1 on the Canadian Hot 100 9th October, 2010 and three days later, the song was the singer’s third pans on the Dutch Top 40th It has also been successful on many other lists around the world, including in Denmark.
The music video was directed by Ethan Charger. Actress Nathalie Kelley is involved in it. Rapper Lupe Fiasco involved on an official remix of the song, included on an extended special version of Doo-Wops & Hooligans (deluxe).
Bruno Mars was inspired by Joe Cocker song You Are So Beautiful and Eric Clapton’s song Wonderful Tonight because they “go straight to the point”and “comes straight from the heart.”
The first critic reactions varied: Digital Spy comparing Just the Way You Are with Empire State of Mind by Jay-Z (with Alicia Keys) and wrote a “a similar, if not indisputable an instant classic is born.”. Diana Krall was born into a musical family in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. She began playing piano as a 4-year-old. The family moved to Vancouver. When she went to high school, she began playing in a small jazz band. As 15-year-old she started playing regularly in several restaurants in Nanaimo.
As 17-year-old, she got a scholarship from the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, so she could study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. She completed three semesters.
Her appearance in Nanaimo attracted attention from the famous bass player Ray Brown (deceased Ella Fitzgerald ex-husband). After hearing her play, he persuaded Diana Krall to move to Los Angeles and study with pianist Jimmy Rowles, as she began to sing. This brought her into contact with influential teachers and producers. In 1990, Diana Krall relocated to New York.
Diana Krall and British musician Elvis Costello were married in December 2003. They had twins in December 2006 – their first joint children.
